Outfit Of The Week 3/10/24 – 3/16/24
Another week, another visit to the office. Luckily, I remembered to snap some pics before leaving the house in order to spare you from another week of gross, office-bathroom lighting! After putting this outfit together, I realized that I had unwittingly coordinated my sweater, pocket square, socks, and scarf!
It was a beautiful, sunny day. Chilly in the morning, but not windy, and fairly warm in the afternoon. I decided that I did not need an overcoat, as my cashmere sweater and tweed jacket were sufficient enough to keep me warm on my commute. I did, however, wear a scarf and my ever-present wool cap.
The sport coat I chose was my tweed jacket from Aran Sweater Market. I did a review of this jacket a while back. I love this jacket because it’s so good as a strict outerwear piece. It’s very thick and fully-lined. The underside of the collar has a lovely grey check pattern, too.
The pocket square I chose was a primarily red and green wool square from Poszetka. I mentioned in my pocket square article that a smaller, roughly textured square will sit still in the pocket, especially worn with a roughly textured jacket. That’s exactly what’s going on here. Also, the red in the square looked nice with the red of the sweater, I thought.
My sweater was my burgundy, cashmere, v-neck from Lands’ End, which was a gift from my in-laws a couple years ago.
My shirt was a light blue, Hyde Park, OCBD from Lands’ End. I have five Hyde Parks and it’s a shame that Lands’ End has appeared to discontinue the line.
My khaki pants were also Lands’ End. I like to get my shirts and khaki pants from low-cost retailers, since it’s not worth it to me to spend a ton of money on those items.
My shoes were my Beckett Simonon Dunham Derbies of which I have been getting a ton of use. I chose some Argyle socks, even though they don’t match the tone of my pants. I felt that the red/green pattern went well with the rest of the outfit (sweater and pocket square), even if they did draw some attention to my feet.
The scarf was my red, plaid from Blarney Woollen Mills in Dublin, Ireland. I purchased this scarf when I was working at the National Museum of Ireland so it has a lot of sentimental value.
My watch was my new Lorier Zephyr. I like how the tan strap goes with the overall “country gentleman” look I seem to have going on here.
Even though my sport coat’s main purpose was to keep me warm on my commute to and from the office, I found it useful IN the office as well, since my desk is right underneath a very strong fan! I was able to wear the jacket when it was too cold and then take it off when the wind died down a bit. I wrote a while back about how it’s important to make sure every layer of your outfit works on its own, and that concept came in handy here.
It looks like the weather in the coming weeks is going to be a bit unpredictable. That’s just fine by me!
Have a wonderful weekend!
