Outfit Of The Week 9/22/24 – 9/28/24
This week’s edition of “OOTW” marks the official arrival of “Tweed Jacket To The Office” season!
I was thrilled that the weather was cool enough in the city to comfortably wear a thick sport coat.
The jacket I chose was an incredibly soft tweed from Charles Tyrwhitt. I love the pattern on this jacket. It’s a brown, houndstooth check with hints of green, red, and yellow. Because of the multitude of colors, I find it very easy to combine it with pocket squares and ties.
The pocket square I chose was a predominantly green, orange, and red paisley from Poszetka. This square is incredibly versatile and goes well with almost all my cold-weather jackets.
This jacket is also a great “early fall” jacket because it’s only partially lined. The lining is only in the shoulder and arm areas. So, while it’s warm enough to wear on the walk to the train at 7am, it’s not so heavy that I feel like I am going to overheat when it’s closer to 70 degrees in the afternoon.
This jacket is also a great travel jacket (as most tweeds are). It’s technically “slim fit”, but it still has enough drape to wear comfortably while driving a long distance or sitting in a train or airplane seat. I also enjoy having the ticket pocket for extra storage.
My shirt was a blue, Lands’ End Hyde Park, oxford-cloth button-down… a handsome, comfortable, inexpensive workhorse of a shirt.
My pants were my Lands’ End khakis which you’ve seen a million times. Rest assured that a wider variety of trousers will be featured as the weather gets colder!
For my shoes, I decided to swap out my usual Bass Weejun loafers for my Beckett Simonon Dunham Derbies.
The weather was forecasted to be a little iffy on that particular day, so I wanted a shoe with a rubber sole and some more adequate foot-coverage than my loafers provide. Luckily, it didn’t rain at all while I was in the city, which meant my umbrella was nothing more than a rather cumbersome accessory.
Speaking of accessories, the watch I wore was the Lorier Zephyr I’ve worn almost exclusively since my wife gave it to me earlier this year.
Since it was a little chilly and windy, to top everything off, I wore my brown, herringbone newsboy cap.
Also, I wanted to give a special shout-out to the delightful staff of the bakery on 40th who complimented my outfit (“your fit is on point!”) AND my mustache! Flattery does work and I will patronize their establishment moving forward!
Have a wonderful weekend!
