Outfit Of The Week 11/10/24 – 11/16/24

For this week’s edition of “OOTW”, I am pleased to showcase two special pieces: my sport coat and my trousers.

I made an appearance in the office this week and the weather that day was cool and windy. An overcoat wasn’t needed; a tweed jacket was sufficient.

Some of you may remember this jacket as part of the 3-piece suit my wife bought me for my birthday back in July. Well, I had it tailored (just sleeves shortened and body taken in, nothing major) and now it’s ready to be worn!

On its first real outing, I found this jacket to be very supple and incredibly comfortable. It’s rather light, but kept me warm even as the wind whipped up on the walk to the office.

As I sat on the train in the morning, I took a few minutes to really inspect the variation of colors within the cloth. At a distance, the jacket appears light brown, almost tan in bright sunlight. When I looked closer at the cloth, I noticed flecks of green, yellow, and even blue. It’s really lovely!

Give that the lighter shade of the jacket, I opted to wear trousers with a bit of contrast. These trousers are chocolate-brown, high-rise flannels from Brooks Brothers. I bought these pants, as with many pieces in my wardrobe, many years ago when I was at my heaviest. The waist was always a little big (I always wore them with suspenders anyway) and the hems were always a little short. I just never really got around to having them adjusted to fit me better as my body evolved over time.

Until now!

I had my tailor take in the waist considerably and lengthen the hems. I am really pleased with the results! I can actually wear these pants with a belt (which I have done here). They are about as comfortable as pajama pants and they ripple and flow when I walk in a really satisfying way.

Taking your stuff to a tailor is a great way to feel like you all of a sudden have brand new clothes! And it will make you feel 100x more confident and attractive in those clothes!

The shirt I wore was one of my trusty Lands’ End Hyde Parks in light blue. I really liked the blue against the brown of the jacket. Underneath my shirt I wore a v-neck undershirt as I wanted a little bit more of a barrier between my body and the wind. It was the right choice.

My pocket square was from Poszetka. This is one of my go-to fall pocket squares. The orange, green, and blue in the square coordinated nicely with the rest of what I was wearing (as I find is almost always the case with this square).

My shoes were my Bass Weejuns. My socks had a green, red, and black argyle pattern which I felt looked nice with the flannel trousers and tweed jacket.

My hat was my brown, tweed, herringbone cap.

The highlight of my day was meeting up with my wife and my oldest son for a mid-day pizza date! My wife was also able to snap some “action” shots of me, which gave an interesting view into how the jacket and pants look from behind. Not bad!

Have a wonderful weekend!
