Outfit Of The Week 1/19/25 – 1/25/25

I’m really excited for this one!

This past week was my 10-year wedding anniversary with my beautiful wife. While we always like to get dressed up on special occasions, my wife suggested we put on exactly what we wore when we got married. I wore my wedding-day tuxedo and my wife wore her wedding dress (which she pulled out of storage). Note: the tuxedo you see here is different from the midnight, shawl-collar tux I wore on NYE.

This tuxedo represents the beginning of my menswear journey and I can’t think of a better representation of classic, handsome tailoring!

The tux is from Brooks Brothers and is their “Fitzgerald” fit which is a touch trim. If I got a Brooks Brothers suit or jacket today, I’d opt for their “Madison” fit but the fact that this tux is the “Fitzgerald” is a fun reminder that when I bought this suit I didn’t really know what my own preferences were yet! Regardless, I think it still looks amazing. Also, the jacket is a “long” instead of a “regular”, which is not something I usually get, but I really like the look. Perhaps I’ll experiment with longer jackets moving forward.

What I loved about putting on this tuxedo again was that it highlighted the fact that I am in better physical shape now than I was ten years ago. The tux was so comfortable, even more so than it was on my wedding day. Putting it on filled me with confidence and hammered home how important it is to stay in shape as the years wear on. I was reminded of how, after only one year of marriage, I couldn’t fit into this tuxedo due to “enjoying married life” a little too much. But now here I am, a decade on, feeling like a million bucks. My wife also felt the same about how her wedding dress fit.

Style-wise, I am so happy I went ultra-classic with this dinner suit. Some people think a 100% classic tuxedo is boring because it’s just black-and-white. Actually, a tux looks so cool BECAUSE it’s just black-and-white! You never wear just black-and-white in your regular life, and that’s what makes the appearance of the tuxedo so striking.

Another thing I loved about putting on our wedding attire was that it was snowing during our little photo session. On our wedding day there was a huge ice storm that kept us all indoors for the photos, so it was nice to be able to take some pictures in the lovely, picturesque snowfall.

Of course, the snow necessitated fun outerwear! I know the traditional coat to accompany a tuxedo is a Chesterfield with fur collar and all, but my navy, double-breasted overcoat looks perfectly proper in this scenario. To top it all off I wore my black homburg (naturally).

Our day was incredibly enjoyable and the boys got a real kick out of seeing us in our wedding attire.

Have a wonderful weekend!
