Outfit Of The Week 11/17/24 – 11/23/24

This week’s edition of “OOTW” marks the season’s first appearance of my beloved Aran, cable-knit sweater!

I absolutely love this thing and I wear it constantly when it’s cold. It’s a wool and cashmere blend, which feels incredibly luxurious.

I know some people look at a sweater like this and cringe, thinking they could never wear a thick wool sweater without itching like crazy. Unfortunately, I feel like those people just have never experienced a GOOD sweater before.

One thing I always find funny when I wear this sweater is that people always ask why I’m so “dressed up”. Maybe it’s because the sweater is a little eye-catching. Maybe it’s because I always wear a collared shirt under it.

That’s the great thing about sweaters in general: you can wear them casually with jeans and boots (as I have done here) or you can dress up a little with wool trousers or khaki pants with some leather shoes.

I know it’s a little tired to tout the benefits of a garment by saying how versatile it is and how it can “take you anywhere” but garments like those are the ones we form special connections with because we wear them in lots of different circumstances and create memories in them.

Also, clothes look best when they’re worn! The only way to wear stuff a lot is to have a wardrobe of classic, well-made pieces that don’t go out of style.

Under my sweater, I wore a black and grey flannel shirt. My pants were my jeans that USED to be ripped in the knee until my wife graciously patched them. All ready for winter! No more drafty pants for me!

My boots were my L.L. Bean work boots that desperately need a shine.

To top things off, I wore my brown, tweed cap and navy Harrington jacket from Orvis to keep the wind at bay while I pushed my son on the swings after school.

The temperatures are forecasted to drop in the coming weeks and I can’t wait! I’m also excited to showcase what I am going to wear on Thanksgiving!

Have a wonderful weekend!
