Outfit Of The Week 3/22/26 – 3/28/26

Good grief, has this been a busy week! I feel like I say that every week. Work has been ridiculous for both my wife and me. I was recently named as a co-lead on a company-wide AI initiative, so that’s been taking up a bunch of time. I also needed to get my truck inspected and my son had a doctor’s appointment.

Regardless of the week’s obligations, it’s still important to put some effort into how we present ourselves!

Even though I work from home most of the time, I still like to “dress up” a little, as I am frequently on video calls.

This week’s “OOTW” features an ensemble I wore recently which I feel is a perfect “WFH” outfit.

Now, readers of this site already know that I am generally NOT a fan of those “casual sport coats” that try to straddle the line between an actual sport coat and either a sweater or a casual jacket. I think that if you’re going to wear a sport coat, wear a sport coat.

But I think that they CAN serve a function in a man’s wardrobe, specifically in instances where you are working from home and need a respectable layer to look good on camera, but also keep yourself warm in a drafty home-office.

Enter my casual sport coat from Brooks Brothers. I bought this probably twelve years ago when short coats were all the rage and the coat definitely reflects that trend. I like it, though, because it’s very thick cotton… almost as thick as my old BJJ gi, but not nearly as stiff and durable, obviously.

Long ago, I decided that this jacket was too short to look decent out-of-home, but was actually an excellent “house jacket”. It essentially served the same purpose as some of my sweaters in that it was thick and roomy and comfortable and had tons of pockets for all the junk I carry around all the time. The fact that it’s cotton informalizes it even more, although I do wish it were wool since it would make it a bit more utilitarian.

Basically, this jacket looked pretty cool if I wore it ultra-casually. Anything other than that? It didn’t look great, in my opinion. That settled, I tend not to wear a pocket square with it, since that would feel a little too dandy-ish with the feel of this jacket.

Under the jacket, I wore a burgundy Shetland sweater my wife bought me a couple years ago. This sweater has because my new “travel sweater” since it’s just a touch heftier than my navy sweater from J. Crew.

Under the sweater was the predictable oxford shirt from Lands’ End.

Not seen are my khaki chinos… but you already knew I’d be wearing khakis!

This outfit is probably the most perfect “work from home” outfit I have worn in quite a while, since it’s much more elevated that 99% of anyone else on your Zoom calls but is still comfortable enough to not feel like you’re “dressed up” while sitting in your own house.

Have a wonderful weekend!
