Outfit Of The Week 7/13/25 – 7/19/25
This week’s edition of “OOTW” features a birthday celebration ensemble, which also probably represents my personal version of “peak summer style”.

Yes, it was my birthday the other day so my wife and I went out to a nice dinner while my in-laws watched the boys.
It was the first time I had worn my seersucker suit in the wild! I have worn it at home once or twice, but never had the opportunity to wear it out in public until now.

Some of you might remember that I had a TON of stuff tailored recently and this suit was included. I had been able to wear the jacket before getting it tailored, since it fit pretty well off the rack, but obviously the trousers weren’t wearable until they were altered. I couldn’t get anything tailored during Covid and then we moved to a place where I didn’t have a reliable tailor for a little while, so the suit sat in my closet for a few years.
Thankfully I can wear it now!
The benefits of seersucker are well-known. This suit is light and airy and an absolute joy to wear in the summer. I was able to walk to the restaurant without sweating like crazy or needing to remove my jacket.
My wife and I received many compliments that night!

One of the great things about a seersucker suit is that it’s one of the few suits that can be split up and worn as separates. You can wear just the jacket with different trousers, or just the trousers with a sport coat or blazer, making the suit very versatile.

My shoes are also notable. I got these shoes as a gift from my wife’s sister and her husband a few years ago. I’ve never worn them out and about mainly because I’m not used to styling tan shoes. Most of my suits are dark, so I wouldn’t wear tan shoes with them (since you generally want your shoes to be darker than your pants so you don’t draw attention to your feet) and I generally lean toward burgundy loafers or lace-ups when wearing khakis or other lighter-colored trousers.

Since I knew I’d be wearing my seersucker suit, I decided it was the perfect time to wear these shoes given how light (colored) the suit is.
I think the combination of suit-and-shoes is really pleasing! The shoes are a little outside my normal comfort zone given their chisel-toe and horse-bit flourish but I enjoyed wearing them. Also, they are fantastically comfortable and perfect for walking, which I wasn’t expecting.
My shirt was white with French-cuffs, so I wore my gold-tone, Irish knot cufflinks. I felt the gold color went nicely with the light blue of the suit.
My tie was a burgundy, raw silk tie from Poszetka. I was tempted to wear a bow-tie with the seersucker, but I felt the long tie was a little more elegant and understated for dinner. Really, there was no wrong choice.

For dinner, I had baked local oysters and duck breast. My wife had one of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever tasted!
Overall, I had a fantastic birthday dinner with my beautiful wife. What a life!
Have a wonderful weekend!
