Outfit Of The Week 8/30/26 – 9/5/26

I can smell it in the air!

Can you?!

It’s the smell of fall!

I am very excited about the cooler weather that has been flirting with my neck of the literal woods for the past week or so. The days have been warm, but the mornings and evenings? A tantalizing taste of what lies ahead!

The other day, for driving my son to school on a rainy morning, I donned a wool cap, a Barbour jacket, and some rubber Hunter boots. This outfit is this week’s edition of “OOTW”.

The wool cap is a blue-and-green plaid and it’s made in Scotland. My wife and sons bought it for me from a local import shop for my birthday a couple months ago and I have been itching to wear it with some consistency.

The jacket is my familiar Barbour Dalkeith that my wife bought me from Orvis many years ago. I find it funny when I read comments online about waxed jackets and people are like “I rewax my jacket every year!”

In reality, you DO NOT need to rewax a jacket that often. I’ve had this jacket for probably 7 or 8 years and I have never once rewaxed it (and you guys know that I put my jackets through the ringer!). If I don’t need to rewax my jacket often, no one needs to.

One of the things I like the most about this jacket is the wool lining. It makes it a perfect transitional-weather jacket.

Rounding out my outfit were my Hunter boots. They were the practical choice, not only because it was very rainy that morning, but because they are easy to slip on and off for quick errands such as these (which is why they are always by the door). They have a nice, fleece lining which makes them a touch warmer than the unlined versions. The fleece is also, unexpectedly, good in the warm weather because it makes it so your sweaty foot doesn’t stick to the rubber.
