Outfit Of The Week 1/25/26 – 1/31/26
Man, it’s been cold lately! Last weekend was the real doozy. It was -13 degrees at my house with a wind chill of -22. This morning was only slightly better. It was only -7 when we all got up this morning and got the kids off to school.
One of the great things about being into menswear is that extreme weather provides ample opportunity for fun clothes!
This week’s edition of “OOTW” features one of my go-to, cold-weather uniforms. If you have been following this site for some time you have undoubtedly seen this exact outfit before.
But there is nothing wrong with wearing the things you like over and over again!
First, my Aran sweater. I wrote a glowing review of this sweater a few years ago and it’s still a piece I wear consistently every year starting in October and ending in April. I also featured it in my “ghost clothes” article.

I always wear a collared shirt underneath it, in order to block the wind, and this time I chose a blue flannel from Lands’ End. This shirt is actually kind of a hybrid between a flannel shirt and an oxford shirt, so it makes for a nice “under a sweater” option since it’s not quite as thick as a proper flannel shirt. Come to think of it, I’d probably wear it under a tweed jacket, too.
Under that, I wore a thin, cotton undershirt.
Down below, I wore my navy, corduroy pants that my wife got me for Christmas in 2024. I find these pants to be warmer than a regular pair of jeans so I wear them frequently this time of year.

My boots were my Carolina loggers. When it’s icy, I don’t venture outside without adequate traction. And these boots provide it in spades.
For outerwear, I wore my L.L. Bean field coat and my wool/cashmere, Made In Ireland, knit hat I got on a trip to Portland, Maine many years ago. I love the flecks in the Donegal-style yarn!

This coming weekend’s temperature is forecasted to get up to a positively balmy 19 degrees!
Maybe it’s time for some linen!
Have a wonderful weekend!
