Outfit Of The Week 7/19/26 – 7/25/26
I am feeling thankful that my last two “OOTWs”, including this one, feature fun clothes I wore while on dates with my wife.
Writing about these special evenings really helps me appreciate how lucky I am.
The outfit you see here is one I wore a little while ago when my wife and I went out for drinks while visiting my in-laws. As you guys know, my wife and I always do at-home dates, but we also always jump at the chance to do real out-of-the-house dates whenever we can.

Often, my go-to warm-weather jacket is my navy, wool jacket from SuitSupply. It’s unlined and light enough that you can see through it when you hold it up to the light. It’s perfect for summer. It’s also my least-structured jacket. There is hardly any padding in the shoulders. The patch hip pockets further casualize it, but I almost always wear this jacket with a proper shirt and tie.
My shirt was one from Charles Tyrwhitt. It’s the same white, French cuff shirt I wore with my seersucker suit in last week’s feature. I wore the mother-of-pearl cufflinks my wife bought me in honor of our sweet bulldog who passed away a few years ago (pearl was her birth stone).

The thing I want to really highlight about this outfit is my tie. This tie is brand new and this night was its maiden voyage.

The tie was a gift for my birthday. My kids picked it out (with some helpful direction from my wife). It’s made in Scotland and features a plaid representing a part of the west of Ireland (where the Connelly name originates).

Now, I normally wouldn’t wear a wool tie in the dead of summer, but I knew my kids were looking forward to me wearing the tie, so I couldn’t disappoint them. And honestly, I think it looked great, even against the white, formal shirt and summery jacket!
I think it goes to show that we shouldn’t be so rigid about our “seasonal” items. Yes, I’ll obviously mostly wear this tie in the cooler weather, but it still looks great during the summer. I don’t think it would work with something like seersucker, though. The contrast would be too great.
Rounding out my outfit were my tan, wool trousers and my tan loafers.

Overall, a beautiful evening with my beautiful bride!
Have a wonderful weekend!
