Outfit Of The Week 10/25/26 – 10/31/26

I have a little bit of a confession to make…

I feel like I haven’t been dressing my best lately.

Now, when I say that, I don’t mean that I haven’t had some recent outfits that made me smile. I certainly have. What I mean is that I feel like my regular, day-to-day wardrobe hasn’t been up to snuff.

I think part of the reason for that is my workout schedule. It’s pretty flexible these days, which is good, but unfortunately, it means that I don’t really “get dressed” until later on in the day once I have gotten some work done and my workout is out of the way.

In the past, I would drive my son to school, then come home and immediately chop wood. Then I would shower, get dressed, and sit down at my computer to work, fresh for the day.

Now, though, since I haven’t been able to chop much lately, my workout times tend to be a bit more fluid. Great for managing everything I need to in the day, but not great for actually dressing my best, since I tend to spend the day in my workout clothes until I can squeeze in some exercise.

Because of all of this, the other day I decided that I needed to make a more concerted effort to dress better each day, hence the outfit you see here. I wore this recently for a day spent around the house. The outfit consisted of a pink, oxford shirt from Brooks Brothers (a gift from my wife), some khaki pants from Lands’ End, which I treat as jeans, basically, and a soft, cotton sport coat from Brooks Brothers.

I’ve written about this jacket before. It’s one of those “casual sport coats” that never really looks at home anywhere.

It’s too casual for anything requiring an actual jacket but because it’s still a jacket, it often looks too dressed up for anything casual.

So, I decided a while ago I would wear this jacket as nothing more than a house jacket… a thick over-layer for cool days. For that purpose, it’s great. It’s soft and warm and has giant pockets for holding all the paper towels I carry around with me (for some reason). The more I wear the jacket for this new purpose, the better it will look, as it will gather soot from the fireplace and likely more than a few errant drops of wine.

These are the kinds of outfits that are perfect for men who want to dress up more around the house, but might feel a little silly doing so. They don’t need to don a full suit. Honestly, the “dressiest” thing about this whole ensemble is the tucked-in shirt.

My goal is to keep the momentum going with looking a little more put-together around the house and I will use this space (and you!) to hold myself accountable.

Have a wonderful weekend!
