Outfit Of The Week 3/30/25 – 4/5/25

This week’s edition of “OOTW” is a bit of a thematic continuation of last week’s entry.

As I’ve mentioned a handful of times in the past, I recently got a bunch of stuff tailored that had been languishing in my closet. Some of it was stuff that I got altered years ago but needed adjustments and some of it was stuff I got early in the pandemic and never got around to having tailored in the first place.

This seersucker suit falls into that latter category. And yes, I know it’s weird to showcase seersucker when there is still snow on the ground for some of us! But I just couldn’t resist and I feel it helps get us all excited for the months to come!

My wife gifted me this suit years ago and even though I haven’t had it tailored until now, I have, thankfully, been able to at least wear the jacket over the years (since it didn’t need too much tweaking to be presentable).

The suit is a traditional blue-and-white seersucker from Brooks Brothers. It’s their “Madison” fit which is their most generous cut. My jacket size falls somewhere between a 42 and 43 regular in Brooks Brothers. This suit is a 43.

With the jacket, the only things that needed to be done were to take in the body a bit (not too much) and adjust the sleeves. Pretty basic stuff. In looking at the pictures, I probably could have had my tailor try to clean up the back across my shoulders (just below my collar), but I am always hesitant to do that (unless the rippling is really egregious) because, when done poorly, that adjustment can make the collar of the jacket sit away from the back of the neck causing major collar-gap. I’ve only had one tailor in the past whom I felt comfortable instructing to make that particular alteration.

Bottom line: it’s not that big a deal to me and does not in any way detract from my enjoyment of the suit.

As for the pants, I think my tailor did a nice job, except she forgot to add suspender buttons.

I will need to bring the pants back to her for this to be corrected. For these pictures, I had to make due with a belt. I wouldn’t wear a belt with these in the wild, though, because I specifically had the waist and hems tailored to accommodate suspenders. If I wore a belt, the pants would slide down a bit and affect the drape and how much break there was at the hems.

Anyway, that small error aside, I am pleased with the overall result of this suit. My wife is excited for me to wear it when we go out to dinner this summer (while my in-laws graciously watch our children, of course).

Rounding out the outfit, my white shirt is from Charles Tyrwhitt, my raw silk bow-tie is from Poszetka, and my shoes are from G.H. Bass.

Have a wonderful weekend!
