Outfit Of The Week 6/21/26 – 6/27/26

This week’s edition of “OOTW” is certainly a fun one! It shows how sublime simplicity can be!

This past weekend was Father’s Day and my wife pulled out all the stops to make the day special for me! We actually celebrated on Saturday so that we could have a nice, long date night without worrying about having to get up early the next day.

What a day it was!

My wife likes to cook and uses celebratory days to experiment. I am a more-than-willing test subject.

Breakfast was Croque Madame, lunch was New England clam chowder, and dinner was a delightful chicken caprese with burrata.

For my dinner outfit, I wore a suit I got for free over ten years ago from Men’s Wearhouse. It was free because I had outfitted my groomsmen at Men’s Wearhouse and a free suit was part of the deal.

A lot of menswear guys on the internet scoff at Men’s Wearhouse, but I have purchased many perfectly serviceable items from the over the years.

This suit happens to be one of my favorites. It fits wonderfully and still looks great after more than a decade. It’s the suit I usually wear for interviews.

The tie I wore was one of my favorites: a lovely navy grenadine from Charles Tyrwhitt. The tie is rather thin and only ties a decent knot if I make the thin end longer than the wide end. Not a big deal. I either tuck the thin end into my waistband or just let it hang loose.

My shirt was a regular white, spread-collar shirt, also from Charles Tyrwhitt.

My pocket square was a simple, white linen handkerchief.

I sometimes like to experiment with my date-night outfits, but this night I wanted to be elegant and understated. A navy suit, white shirt, and dark tie is an unbeatable combination.

Have a wonderful weekend!
