Outfit Of The Week 8/23/26 – 8/29/26
This week’s edition of “OOTW” is an outfit I wore to a recent dentist appointment.
It should come as a surprise to no one that I like to put on a collared shirt and sport coat even for a mundane errand like going to the dentist. My dentist is in New York City, so an outfit like this isn’t exactly out-of-place.

Even though it’s nearing the end of summer, NYC is still hot and sticky (and will be until around middle-October).
I decided to wear a white, linen shirt from Orvis under my jacket to help with air-flow. This shirt is a little different from my other button-down collar shirts since the collar’s buttons are hidden. There are no real benefits or drawbacks to this feature. The collar still functions like a regular button-down collar (ie it stands up nicely under a jacket without the need of a tie).

The jacket I wore is the light-blue, checked, wool-and-linen blend sport coat from Brooks Brothers that I wear frequently in the warmer months. It’s fully lined, but the lightness of the material keeps it from being too warm. Actually, I wore this jacket the last time I went to the dentist a few months ago.
Down below, I wore my usual combination of khaki pants from Lands’ End and my Bass Weejuns. At some point I’ll probably splurge on a higher-quality pair of loafers, but that time is neither now nor soon.

Since it was very warm on the day in question, I left my cap in my bag. The only other accessory was my Lorier Zephyr watch, which has become my go-to, business casual timepiece.

Happily, my dentist appointment was much less involved and went much quicker than I thought it would! All good things!
Have a wonderful weekend!
