Outfit Of The Week 6/7/26 – 6/13/26

This week’s edition of “OOTW” is actually a double offer!

As you guys know, I work remotely 99% of the time. My job is based out of New York City and I am required to be in the office usually one day a month.

The outfits you see here are what I wore to the office recently and then what I wore to the dentist the following day. Since I was traveling, I wore the same sport coat both days and swapped out everything else.

The sport coat is from Brooks Brothers. It is light blue and has a subtle check pattern. The material is equal parts wool, linen, and silk, which gives it a slightly rough texture. The linen makes the jacket light and breathable but the wool keeps it from wrinkling so much.

For my office day, I wore a blue-and-white striped, oxford shirt from Brooks Brothers. The pocket square I wore that day was one I like to wear in the spring in summer. It’s blue and orange and feels very bright and happy. I like how the orange looks against the blue in the jacket and shirt.

For my office day, I wore a pink, linen shirt (also from Brooks Brothers) and a brown pocket square. The linen shirt was a smart move, as I was schlepping all the way downtown and it was about 85 degrees. The linen shirt helped keep my body temperature regulated on such a hot day. I realized afterwards that this is an exact outfit I wore a year ago almost to the day!

I have found this brown pocket square to be very versatile. Brown goes with almost anything. I picked up this pocket square when my wife and I were in Paris ten years ago.

Both days, I wore khaki pants (not the same ones) and my Bass Weejun loafers. I also wore my Lorier Zephyr watch (which is an excellent, versatile timepiece) and a linen cap from Stetson (via JJ Hat Center in NYC).

I feel like a lot of guys sleep on wearing a sport coat in the summer. I get it. It’s hot out there! But you can’t beat a sport coat for practicality, especially when walking around the city given how much crap you can cart around in the pockets. Maybe I just carry too much stuff with me. The key is getting a sport coat that’s built for summer, like the one I am showing you now.

When it comes to summer, I have long stopped worrying about being too hot. Guys are always like “How can I wear classic menswear and stay cool in the summer?”

The answer is “You can’t.”

You’ll always be hot in the summer. You’re always going to sweat. Don’t worry about it. Yes, absolutely remove your jacket and roll up your sleeves if you have to, but don’t tie yourself in knots trying to find the perfect outfit that keeps you cool. It doesn’t exist.

Anyway, that’s all for now. Have a wonderful weekend!
