Outfit Of The Week 9/7/25 – 9/13/25
This week’s edition of “OOTW” features an outfit I wore during the day last weekend in one of summer’s last hurrahs.
My wife and I took a dear friend of ours out for her birthday. The day consisted of great food and booze and even better company.
We went out for lunch and sat outside. It was pretty hot and humid that day so it was nice that we got a table in the shade. I had a crab cake sandwich and a martini. Now, some people are very particular about their martinis but I am not that fussy, as long as there isn’t some egregious error.
Unfortunately, I could tell there was something wrong with my martini as soon as the waitress sat it in front of me.
It was brown.
It looked like they put apple juice in a cocktail glass. A martini is not supposed to look that way. It’s supposed to be clear, or slightly cloudy. Certainly not brown!
The waitress immediately said, “I think he might have added a little too much vermouth.”
I laughed and agreed with her.
I usually don’t feel the need to send things back when at a restaurant, but this was a special circumstance. I also felt confident the waitress would instruct the bartender on how to make a proper martini considered she realized the issue straight away.
Happily, the second effort was successful!
For my outfit, since we were sitting outside in the heat, I knew a jacket would be too hot but I still wanted to look nice. I opted for my short-sleeved, button-down collar, seersucker shirt from Brooks Brothers.

I tucked that into my khaki chinos from Lands’ End and wore navy boat shoes.
I actually had my bathing suit on under my pants, since we were going straight from lunch to the beach.
I topped it all off with my Panama hat (which is still soldiering on despite showing major signs of wear) and my drug-store sunglasses.

A great day was had by all! Next week I’ll showcase what I wore to dinner that night!
Have a wonderful weekend!
