Outfit Of The Week 8/17/25 – 8/23/25
This week’s edition of “OOTW” is a return to what you guys have come to expect from this space after last week’s salty, bare-chested departure.

The other night, my wife and I went on a date while her parents watched our boys. We made sure to get them all tucked into bed early (our kids, not her parents) before we left for dinner and drinks so my in-laws didn’t have to deal with the sometimes-chaotic bedtime routine.
The local restaurant we went to gets pretty busy in the evenings. We hadn’t made reservations since the decision to go out was rather impromptu, so we sat in the bar area instead of waiting for a proper table.
I knew we would be walking to dinner and it could potentially be warm in the restaurant, so I opted to wear a very light poplin shirt with a small check pattern and a light, unlined, navy, wool blazer from Suit Supply. No undershirt.

This blazer is my go-to summer jacket since it’s so light. I have featured it many times in this space.
The pants I wore were tan, wool trousers from Men’s Wearhouse held up by burgundy suspenders from Brooks Brothers. The pics don’t really capture the cut of the pants accurately. They are a bit fuller than the pictures suggest with a wider leg opening, but I had to bend over to snap the shot which distorted the drape.

You may notice that the hems of the legs are not the same. That was the doing of a particularly bad tailor some years ago and I have never gotten it fixed. The pants are still wearable, though, and are perfect for using for a few hours at a time when I am mostly sitting at a table.
The highlight of this outfit was my tie. This is a linen/wool blend from Charles Tyrwhitt and I haven’t really worn it much over the years, possibly because I tend to prefer solid, dark ties, especially in the evening.
I’m happy I wore it that night, though, because I remembered how much I like it! I love the texture and the heft. It also ties a beautifully fat knot that stay put all night.

My mussels were too spicy. Good thing I had plenty of gin to put out the fire!
Have a wonderful rest of your week!
