Outfit Of The Week 10/26/25 – 11/1/25

This week’s edition of “OOTW” features an outfit I wore at home recently for a date night with my wife.

I’ve mentioned countless times how important it is to not give up the things that are important to you once you have kids. My wife and I have always loved getting dressed up and going out to dinner, but that’s much harder once you become parents.

But instead of just throwing up our hands and lamenting the fact that we can’t go out like we used to, we got creative! That means having lunch dates on the weekends and periodic at-home dinner dates once the kids have gone to bed.

For this particular date, I wore a navy suit, white shirt, and blue-and-white tie. Pardon the dirty mirror.

This suit is significant. I actually got it for free over ten years ago from Men’s Wearhouse. It was free because I outfitted all my groomsmen for my wedding with tuxedos from Men’s Wearhouse and part of that deal was that I got an additional suit, for myself, free of charge.

I know some people in the menswear space like to sh*t on places like Men’s Wearhouse and Jos. A Bank, but you can get some good stuff from them. I have a couple suits and a few pairs of trousers from both those retailers and they are perfectly fine for the price.

This suit is actually one of my favorites. It fits perfectly. It’s my go-to “interview/big meeting/wedding” suit. As I said, it’s over ten years old and still looks great. I couldn’t be more pleased.

The white shirt I wore with it was unremarkable. Just a simple, white, spread-collar shirt. No French cuffs that night. The reason I wore this shirt is because I already had it pressed and hanging in my closet.

That’s a big key to at-home date nights! Make sure you have a shirt ready to go in your closet so you can get dressed quickly! Adults have precious little free time and I don’t want to spend that time ironing a shirt when I could be lounging around drinking wine with my wife.

The tie I wore is one I like to wear on festive occasions given its iridescence. It’s from Charles Tyrwhitt (like the shirt) and the silk is nice and thick and ties a great, fat knot.

Of course, black shoes are required with a navy suit.

All in all, it was a fantastic evening! We had a lovely dinner and then had drinks by the fire.

Have a wonderful weekend!
