Outfit Of The Week 2/15/26 – 2/21/26

This week’s edition of “OOTW” features what I wore last weekend for Valentine’s Day!

I never really get the people who don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day with their significant others. I don’t know about you, but I will take any excuse to get dressed up, drink wine, and eat delicious food with my beautiful wife!

As I’ve said countless times before on this site, my wife and I love doing at-home dates. I wrote a whole article about how to execute them perfectly.

Last Saturday night, my wife and I put the kids to bed early and then got dressed for dinner. I decided on a blue suit, a white shirt with a very subtle check pattern, and a blue tie with small pink dots.

The reason I chose this particular suit was because my suspenders were already attached to the pants. The reason I chose the shirt was because it was folded nicely in my closet and wasn’t wrinkled. Non-iron shirts are excellent for at-home date nights since they can be worn in a pinch without needing to be ironed. I wrote an article about that some time ago.

I was already settled on the tie before I chose my suit, since the tie had pink dots and I thought that would be a fun choice for Valentine’s Day. I originally thought that the tie and suit wouldn’t be ideal together since they are so close in color. Sometimes I get these ideas in my head about what will or will not look good together. I will then make a decision based on those thoughts which will sometimes be completely erroneous!

Case in point: this outfit. The tie and suit look great together! In no universe does a blue suit and blue tie NOT look good together. Sometimes I need to get out of my own head.

The shoes I chose to wear that night were my burgundy Bass Weejun loafers. Now, I know what you’re thinking and I agree… those shoes are not ideal with the suit, since the Weejuns are much more casual than the suit is. The reason I chose the loafers is because it was an at-home date and I wanted a pair of shoes I could easily put on and kick off at the end of the night.

And, honestly, they didn’t look terrible. Ideal? No. But certainly not terrible.

The watch I wore was my 42mm Bulova on a black, leather strap. What I love so much about this watch is that it’s formal and still a little beefy. It’s a MAN’S formal watch!

The strap is not the original, as that broke many years ago. The replacement is from a local jewelry store. The original was a deployant clasp style and it tapered pretty aggressively from the lugs to the buckle. The replacement strap hardly has any taper at all which means the strap is very wide all around my wrist, which balances out the heftiness of the watch itself.

For dinner, my wife made a flawless beef Wellington! All in all, a wonderful evening!

Would love to see some bold contrasting linings inside your suit jackets, I think that would be beautiful to see especially with waistcoat, tuxedo and overcoat linings

Thanks for the suggestion! I get all my stuff off-the-rack, so the linings are what they are. I also like being conservative in my suits, so flashy linings are not really my thing.
